In April 2010 I started the process to have weight loss surgery. I went to two informational sessions and a support group. I met with the PA at Albany Medical Bariatric Program and I need to lose 30 pounds. That is 10% of my body weight. Yup I weighed over 300 pounds when I started this. I had a BMI of 55.4. I was considered morbidly obese. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, I suffer from depression, my knees are severely arthritic, I have severe sleep apnea and terrible heartburn. I started eating better and being more mindful of what I eat. So far I have lost 8 pounds. I met with a nutritionist and a dietician to discuss my diet and what I should be eating. Carbs became my enemy and protein my friend. This past week I met with my surgeon, Dr. Bonville. He seems like a nice man and an excellent doctor. I am leaning toward the Roux en Y gastric bypass. It is the most radical of the surgeries but gives the most benefits. You lose the most weight with this surgery and most if not all of my ailments will disappear. Can you imagine not shelling out a crapload of money for meds?? Being able to exercise without feeling as though your knees were going to break?? Getting more use out of my knees before I need a knee replacement?? Having a long and productive life?? Actually LIVING!!!???!!! I am so excited about this whole process. It will be hard, painful but so worth it. I can not wait to start my new journey!!

weight loss is sometimes difficult to attain, it all depends on your motivation and genetics :~,
